OBITUARY

Carol Jean McCarthy

October 21, 1943April 21, 2013

Job well done! Work here on earth has ended for God’s special Angel, Carol Jean (Bennett) McCarthy. Her love for life, and all who were in it, is the legacy that she has left behind for all who had the privilege to know her. She loved, laughed, encouraged, and praised all who came in contact with her knowing we too would show the same kind of love and compassion, to others that came into our lives. She was entrusted with the lives of many precious children through her daycare business that many lovingly referred to as “Carol’s Kids”. Carol has molded many young lives, by giving them a sense of community, a passion for learning, and more importantly, a feeling of being loved that extended beyond their home. Carol’s faith in God, was displayed not by preaching the word, but by teaching the fundamental principles, of how to live a Godly life, living and leading by example, and showing grace and mercy to all. Love never ending! Carol is survived by her son Dave Holstein, daughter Darcy Schmitt, grandchildren Paige Schmitt and Nick Schmitt, sister Pat Dalman and brother in-law Bruce Dalman, brother Tom Bennett and sister in-law Nancy Bennett, sister Mary Lou Galardi, many loving nieces and nephews, and of course “ Carols Kids”. Carols Memorial Event will be held at Eagle Eye Golf Club, 15500 Chandler Rd., East Lansing, Michigan 48823, on May 11, 2013 at 2:00 pm. Please support The American Cancer Foundation in lieu of flowers. We look forward to celebrating Carol’s extraordinary life with everyone!

Carol was a very loving person, that I will miss so much. She filled me with joy and laughter every time I saw her. I loved going to her daycare Monday-Friday. I couldn't tell you my favorite thing about Carol, because there's to many of them. There was also many funny and loving stories we shared with each, that I will never ever forget. She will remain in my heart forever, and I can't wait until the day we see each other face-to-face again. Love you Carol.

Words cannot even express how much I love this woman. I had the pleasure of being the first girl to assist her at her daycare and to this day I still have amazing relationships with her family and the kids that attended the daycare. Just recently I was blessed to bring my own children to her to take care of and it was the most amazing feeling knowing she was with them. As a parent finding daycare is one of the hardest things to decide on but when it came to Carol there wasn't a worry at all. She didn't just watch them she LOVED them! I am thankful I was able to be with her these last few months and to see her and hold her hand and hug her whenever I wanted. Those memories will never leave me. I will miss you Carol. Thank you for everything you have given me and my family and thank you for bringing me into your life. My heart goes out to her amazing family. I love you all.
Love,
Jen,Scott, Parker, & Benjamin Roberts

Lots of wonderful memories for me and my girls! The most truly amazing caregiver! There wasn't a day that my girls didn't want to go to 'Grandma Carol's'...You were an inspiration to all who knew you! Heaven is surely richer because there is a new caregiver 'grandma' taking care of all those precious children heaven holds! You will be missed! Joy, Chelsea and Brandea Speas
