David Earl Gaut, age 74 of DeWitt, passed away on Jan. 16, 2023.
He was born in Lansing on Sept. 15, 1948 to Earl and Verna Lou (Holiday) Gaut.
He graduated from Holt High School where he met Cristeena House. David married Cristeena at Calvary Lutheran Church in Lansing. They were married for 54 years.
David worked as a millwright in automotive manufacturing. He retired after 35 years of service at General Motors.
David, with his good friend Ed Martin, started the “Barnyard horse pullers group”. He spent summers traveling throughout mid Michigan, pulling his farm teams at festivals and fairs for many years.
When he wasn’t pulling his draft horses he enjoyed going to plow days and giving rides at local tree farms. He also enjoyed car shows, and supporting his girls at many 4-H horse shows and meeting with the guys for coffee.
Surviving are his wife, Cristeena; children Jennifer (Charles) Kline, Jessica (Dan) Gaut, and Julie (Paul) Weiers; grandson, Mat Stevens; and siblings, Evelyn (Gary) Kemmerer, and Jacky (Randy) Yeager.
David was the perfect balance of a father, caring & loving and strict when needed. He gave the best hugs.
