Doug and Virginia were wonderful neighbors to the Turner family on Snyder Rd. in East Lansing where I grew up. They were always so friendly, kind and loving. My parents Maurice and Marie Turner were very fond of Doug and Virginia.

Doug could be serious and humorous. He and Virginia were great parents. Their children Rick, Randy and Kurt were awesome to grew up with in the neighborhood. We have lots of warm memories of the Mckinstry family.

Doug was a favorite to be with for nearly 30 years and I remember his sincere concern for projects large and small where he led in getting results that were essential to building the College and for his inclusion of all of us who were affected. Doug was an expert in so many ways and we could depend on his ability to get things done and done right. Doug was a friend to all and especially to a smaller group of us who were part of the President's Council and who met a number of times each year to remember our times at LCC and to get up-to-date with one another. It will be a pleasure to see and talk with him again in Heaven.
