Dwayne Calvin Wheat, born April 5, 1935, to Walter and Annie Marie Wheat, passed away April 28, 2013. He graduated from Lansing Eastern High School in 1953, where he participated on the state championship wrestling team in 1951. Mr. Wheat served 25 years as a member of the Michigan State Police force. He loved hunting, fishing and golf. Dwayne was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Sue Wells. Surviving to cherish his memory are his wife, Jenny Lee Wheat; daughter, Stephanie (Mike) Allen; sons, Steve (Karen) Wheat, David (Susan) Wheat, and Mike (Shawna) Wheat; stepsons, Paul (Brenda) Hill Jr. and Mark (Gail) Hill; and several grandchildren; two nieces and one nephew. The family would like to express thanks to Nurse Connie and all the Sparrow Hospital staff. A memorial service for Mr. Wheat will be held at a later date.
