Eldona May Seeger

January 11, 1929August 29, 2020

Christ said Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28 KJV.

After a life well lived, Eldona M Seeger was called home to her heavenly rest on Saturday, August 29, 2020 to join her husband, Paul W Seeger. Her life was centered on Christ. She was not afraid to share her faith in the triune God with others.

Eldona was born in Howell, MI on January 11, 1929, the eldest daughter of Ira and Florence (Barber) Cronkright. She grew up on a farm near Webberville and graduated from Fowlerville High School, where she played in the band. She had a life-long love of music and enjoyed playing the piano until her death. She attended Michigan State University, graduating with a business degree. Paul and Eldona were married in Webberville, MI, on August 16, 1952. Paul predeceased her in 2000. Eldona enjoyed being a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to her family.

Left behind, to cherish her memory, are her four children and their families: son, David (Mary) Seeger; grandchildren, Michael (Leah) Seeger, Timothy (Leidy) Seeger; great granddaughter, Valerie; grandson, Douglas (Samantha) Seeger; great granddaughters, Tessa and Quinn, grandson, William (Caitlin Palmiter) Seeger; daughter, Jeannine (Greg) Benedict and grandson Philip; daughter, Sarah (David) Hartman; grandchildren, Carolyn (Kyle) Kolka; great-grandchildren, Oscar, Elliott, Ava, Christopher (Mi-Ann) Hartman, and Nicholas Hartman; son, Jonathon (Donna) Seeger; and grandchildren, Benjamin and Rebecca. She also leaves behind her sister and brother-in-law, Elaine (Allen) Cable and many nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will take place at Gunnisonville Cemetery on Tuesday, September 1, 2020 at 2:00 pm, with Pastor Paul Lindloff from Emanuel First Lutheran Church officiating. There will be no visitation prior.

To honor Eldona, donations may be made to Emanuel First Lutheran Church or the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).

My sisters and brothers and I all have lots of fond memories of Eldona (and Paul). We were emailing back and forth about walking from our house to Seeger's to go to vacation Bible school in the summer, and about how Seegers used to come to our house for Farm Bureau meetings (these meetings rotated around houses in the small community where we lived). My mom and Eldona were on the Altar Guild at Emanuel Lutheran in Lansing, and sometimes we would ride to confirmation classes with the Seegers and sometimes they rode with us. My family and I will remember Eldona with great fondness. David, Mary, Jeannine, Greg, Sarah, John, may you and your families all be comforted to know that your mom is in Heaven. By now she is happily playing the piano to accompany the angels as they sing.

I knew Mrs. Seeger from church when I was growing up. She was such a delightful person so talk to. I remember her fondly. May you seek comfort in the happy memories and celebrate her life well lived. My deepest sympathies.

I hold very dear childhood memories of Eldonna. She was always kind and welcoming. I was at the farm home often, enjoying time spent with Sarah when we were young. Eldonna was also a part of the group of parents who made the 4-H club run smoothly , so that we could enjoy that rich experience. She will forever be a wonderful part of my childhood memories.

Eldona was such a kind lady. I got to know her at the Bath Senior Center. She always came early and played the piano. I was the cook and we would cook and enjoy her music. She will be missed.

I so enjoyed our Hand-and-Foot card games, although they were too far apart. I will sorely miss her spunk, spirit, and questions about current politics. Heaven's gain is great, and she will certainly be missed by all whose lives she touched. I'm ever grateful to have had her, too briefly, in my life.
