My dad grew up Mt Pleasant, Mi. living at Grandpa's & Grandma's home
in the city or in their cottage on Coldwater Lake. That's where he met and married my Mom. Dad was employed by Schlumberger in Mt Pleasant, Mi , when they moved to Lansing, our family moved with them. When they moved to Texas, dad started working here in Lansing at Diamond Reo Motors. Reo went bankrupt and Dad then went to work at Lansing Heat Treat for a couple of years. A few gentlemen from Reo started Spartan Motors in Charlotte, Michigan and Dad joined them. Driving to and from Charlotte to work from Lansing. I can remember as a child the countless trips back and forth to Mt Pleasant to Mom and Dads families for visits after we had moved to Lansing. So much love with the Earl's, Beck's, Bellinger's & Malley's through good times and bad times!
My Dad was a leader of the St Therese Boy Scouts for many years with Joe Gross. They took the scouts on many camping excursions! He also cooked for many pancake breakfasts at St Therese Church which he loved! Dad was a great social man and loved to laugh. Mom & Dad had a station wagon and a fold down camper and as young kids, we traveled around Michigan's upper and lower campgrounds on vacation. Later in life Mom and Dad bought a Mobile home and placed it in Mt Pleasant, Mi near family. Where they started the tradition of family and extend family camping and joining for campfires. I remember on several occasions Dad pulling out his home made popcorn maker and making popcorn over the campfire for everyone joining the campfire. Back in Dads hayday he would deer hunt with my Uncle Larry Earl, his best friend and whoever was available during hunting season. Dad loved family gatherings. His family, and the Lord and Blessed Mother meant everything to him. He was never without his rosary. His presence will be forever missed, but never forgotten!
