Gladys was born December 22, 1929 in Stanton Michigan to Ralph and Helen Antcliff. She graduated from Grand Ledge High School in 1947 and started a career at J. W. Knapp Co. that would last 25+ years. She delayed the career for a few years after she married Lewis Schoo and had her family of four children, Debra, Douglas, Denise, and Diana (you can see the theme!).
When the youngest started school she returned to Knapp’s, starting in the bookkeeping department of large appliances, and progressed to sales person. She worked for Knapp’s until the final store closed. During that time she won a set of golf clubs and golf became her passion. Winning trophies and even getting a hole-in-one!
After Knapp’s closed she started working for Jacobson’s Store for the Home, and eventually met Robert Beach, who she married and spent 6 years with, playing golf, traveling, and spending winters in Placida Florida. After Bob passed, she decided she wanted her full-time residence to be Florida so off to this adventure!
She lived in Gasparilla Mobile Home Estates for 36 years where she made several great friends and, of course, played a lot of golf. She managed the golf league for years, not giving up until well into her 90’s. The league still exists today and they all honor her for her dedication and devotion to the game.
In 2022 Hurricane Ian severely damaged Gasparilla Estates including her beloved G-1 home. Family encouraged her to move back to Michigan and the next adventure began.
Gladys lived a life of family, friends, and sunshine. She liked bright colors, good home cooked meals, and her Scotch! You could find her on a Saturday afternoon enjoying a cocktail and watching a good round of PGA Golf. She will be dearly missed by all.
She is preceded in death by her parents Ralph and Helen Antcliff, Son Douglas L. Schoo, Beloved husband Robert C. Beach, Sisters Jessie Perry, Ruth Congdon, Rhoda Reedy, and her brother Ronnie Paul Antcliff.
She is survived by her children, Debra (Bud) Bachman, Denise (Richard) Greenleaf, Diana (Lawrence) Debnar, Grandchildren Thomas (Jaque) Enterline, David (Jen) Enterline, Zachary Warren, Angela (Tim) Bargas, and Melinda (Adam) Brown, as well as Brother Ralph (Bonnie) Antcliff, sisters Susan (William) Brooks, Inez DeJongh, and Karen Nagel. Along with so many great and great-great grandchildren.
