

Jake graduated from DeWitt High School in 1949, worked 36 years at General Motors as a supervisor. He was a beloved Boy Scout leader of DeWitt
Troop 77. He retired to Lake City, MI, for 17 years and then moved to Naples, FL for 12 years.
Some of the joys of Jake’s life included fishing, golfing, dancing, and spending time with life-long friends. Jake enjoyed being with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death was his wife of 52 years, Barbara Anne (Hicks) along with his brothers, Frank, Dick and Jerry Kirchen, his niece, Beverly “Jo” McCreery, and nephew, Al Schafer.
Surviving to live out his legacy are his children, Gregg (Paulett) Kirchen of Saugatuck, MI, Karen (Tom) Taylor of Mequon, WI, Tom (Deb) Kirchen of DeWitt and Teresa (Dave) Koenigsknecht of DeWitt, as well as ten grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his sisters, Betty Schafer of Lansing, MI, and Patricia Kirchen of Lake City, MI, sisters-in-law Margaret Kirchen of DeWitt and Loretta Kirchen of St. Johns, MI.
Memorial service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 2, at Northpointe Community Church, 505 E. Webb Drive in DeWitt. Family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, May 1, at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 205 E. Washington in DeWitt and one hour prior to the service at church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice Advantage, 801 S. Waverly Rd, #200, Lansing, MI 48917; Wounded Warrior Project, 1120 G Street NW, Suite 700, Washington DC 20005; or the Capital Area Humane Society, 7095 W. Grand River Ave, Lansing, MI 48906, in memory of Jake Kirchen.
