Jim's entrepreneurial spirit led him to establish a successful career in waste management, where he not only achieved professional success but also contributed to the betterment of his community through his commitment to environmental sustainability.
Beyond his business endeavors, Jim was a true outdoorsman. He found solace and joy in the simplicity of nature, often spending his free time fishing or tending to his farm. His connection to the land and water was profound, and he cherished every moment spent.
A patriot through and through, Jim's love for his country was evident in everything he did. He honored those who served and sacrificed for the nation and never wavered in his belief in the principles of freedom.
Jim is survived by his wife, Phyllis Herrguth; children, Catharine (Chris) Ackley, Ami (Pat) LaMont, James Fredrick Herrguth Jr., Shannon (Brian) Horton, Kara (Jason) Bailey, Robert (Rebekah) Herrguth, Holly (Curtis) Holmes, and Timothy Davis; stepchildren, Stephanie Stevens and Elizabeth Ridgley; 30 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; siblings Diane (Ken) Slocum, Bobbie (Peter) Miller, Mary (Gary) Ozanich; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Miles Herrguth; daughter, Julie Smith; and granddaughter, Krystyn LaMont.
A funeral service for Jim will be held Monday, June 17 at 11:00 am with a visitation one hour prior at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home, 205 E. Washington St. DeWitt, MI 48820. Interment to follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Bath, MI.
