John is preceded in death by both parents, as well as his grandparents, Wayne and Dorothy Carter and his sister, Carmen Nichole Carter.
John is survived by his loving children, Hunter Wayne Carter, Jordan Nichole Carter, and Breana Patrice Carter and his sister Melissa Kay Carter.
Often referred to as "a big teddy bear," John always put others before himself. He loved to spend time with his children and even extended the title of family to his coworkers. John was employed at Bellamy Creek Correctional Facility as a Correctional Officer. When he wasn't working or enjoying his extensive collection of movies, he was outside working in the pole barn, fixing up vehicles, or shooting tin cans at his personal little shooting range in the yard. John was also known for his "man toys," a RZR, 4-wheeler, 3-wheeler, etc.
A Celebration of Life Service for John Carter will be held on Thursday, October 11th at 1pm, with visitation beginning at 11am at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home at 205 E. Washington in Dewitt. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Carter family. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.grdewitt.com.
