Joseph William Udry Jr.

Joe was born on March 22, 1933 and was the only child to parents Joseph and Elizabeth Udry of Flint Michigan. Joe graduated from Flint Northern High School, attended Flint Junior College, served in the Army in Anchorage AK, and earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business from Michigan State University in 1957. After college, Joe worked for Chevrolet National Parts in Swartz Creek MI. Shortly thereafter, Joe met Elizabeth (Beth) Ann Anderson and they were married in 1958. Joe and Beth had three children: Michael, Susan and Joseph. Joe spent his entire career working for General Motors, where he was a Technical Writer, Buyer and Purchasing Agent. In 1998, Joe retired from General Motors with 38 years of service. During retirement, Joe and Beth spent their winters in Ft. Myers Beach and Sanibel Island FL and also traveled throughout the US during the year. Joe and Beth were lifelong Michigan State University Spartan Fans and attended many football games. Joe even attended two Rose Bowl games, one while in college in 1956 and another with Beth in 1988. Joe and Beth also enjoyed the arts and attended plays and concerts at the Wharton Center on the Michigan State University campus. In 2010, after living in Linden for nearly 40 years, Joe and Beth moved to Dewitt MI. Joe was a very social person and enjoyed getting together with friends and family; golfing with co-workers; traveling with Beth; and volunteering with the Lion’s Club where he was a lifetime member. Joe will be greatly missed by his family.

Joe is survived by his son Michael Udry of Simpsonville SC; daughter Susan (Raymond) Hughey of Fallbrook CA; and son Joseph Udry (Debra Good) of Dewitt MI; as well as five grandchildren; Raymond Hughey Jr., Lauren Hughey, Jessica Udry, Jason Udry, and Emily Udry.

Joe is preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Elizabeth Ann Udry, his parents Joseph William and Elizabeth Allen Udry, and his daughter-in-law, Sandra Udry.

Joe’s family would like to thank the staff at Addie’s Acres for their incredible care and kindness to Joe and Beth.

Visitation and Interment will be private.
