Josette Sheaffer

Josie was the daughter of Casimer and Elizabeth Ozanich and was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Sheaffer; her parents; her sister, Sandy (Ozanich) Fox; and her brother, Gary Ozanich.

She was a beloved aunt to numerous nieces and nephews who knew her simply and affectionately as "Aunt Josie". Family was important to her, but Josie also built a wide circle of friendship throughout her life. She had many close friends and was rarely far from a conversation, phone call, a laugh or a good story. She also found a second family among the friends she made at the "Center Stage", where she created countless memories over the years.

Those who knew Josie will remember her sharp wit, quick sense of humor, and love of laughter. She had a kind and caring soul, but also a fiercely independent spirit. Josie knew her own mind, was never afraid to speak it, and genuinely enjoyed hearing what others had to say in return. She valued honesty, friendship, and the simple pleasure of spending time with people she cared about.

Josie's life was filled with family, friendship, laughter, Tigers baseball, and more than a few good conversations. She will be deeply missed by her nieces and nephews, extended family, many friends, and all those who were fortunate enough to know her.

A visitation for Josie will be held Thursday, September 24, 2026, from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 205 E. Washington St. DeWitt, MI 48820.
