Karen touched a lot of people in her life; even in Hospice she touched people’s hearts. Karen loved her children and grandchildren so very much and her goal in life was to make them feel safe and loved always. She loved animals and enjoyed spending time with her dog Sassy. Over the years Karen made many friends who instantly bonded with her loving personality.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Lauren and Rosemary Straight. She is survived by her daughter, Bridgit (Kevin) Barner of DeWitt; son, Dane (Kimberly) Olsen of Lansing; bonus daughter, DeAnne (Mark) Swiercz of Grayling; grandchildren, Michaela Olsen, Brody Barner, Easton Olsen, Nicholas (Amanda) Tompkins, Chandler Swiercz; many special cousins; and lifelong friend, Pam Tabor.

The family would like to give a very special thank you to the wonderful nurses and all the staff at Sparrow Hospice House of Mid-Michigan. The care and genuine love that was shown to Karen will always be remembered.
