Karen graduated from Lansing Eastern High School and attended both Lansing Community College and Michigan State University where she learned computer science in the early days of this vocation. Karen was subsequently employed in both Lansing and San Francisco as a computer operator and technical writer. She eventually started her own employment company, Scofield and Pixley for people seeking employment in the Computer Science field in the San Francisco Bay Area. Karen returned to her roots in greater Lansing several years ago to assist in caring for an aging parent. Karen is survived by members of the Schlegel family and by many loving friends in both California and Michigan.
It is Karen’s wish that in lieu of flowers or a memorial service, gifts be made to the charity of a person’s choice in her name.
