Kenneth Dale Greenfield, 81, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2025 with family by his side. Born on August 10, 1943, Ken was the oldest of four to John and Doris Greenfield. Ken grew up in Dewitt, Michigan on a small farm where he attended a one-room schoolhouse, just a half-mile walk down the road. In 1961, he graduated from Rodney B. Wilson High School in St. Johns. He then enlisted in the United States Navy and served as an aircraft electronics repairman aboard the USS Kitty Hawk Aircraft Supercarrier. He was a proud Veteran. In 1967, Ken married Linda Lease, the love of his life. Ken and Linda built their home in Dewitt just north of the family farm; a little closer to that one-room schoolhouse. Ken started his career with Western Electric and later retired from Lucent Technologies. Truly, Ken was the Jack of All Trades.
Ken loved to go salmon and walleye fishing with his First Mate Linda. He cherished sharing this experience with his grandchildren as often as possible. He also had a fondness for deer hunting, farming, gardening, motorcycling, and snowmobiling, but loved most of all spending time with family. Ken and Linda built a home full of love and family values. They raised two boys, Kenneth "Scott" Greenfield, and Christopher Paul Greenfield. Ken was a firm but fair father who earned respect without asking for it. Ken held fast in his values, but was kind in his actions. He was extremely proud of his boys and the families they raised. Ken took great pleasure spending time with his grandchildren doing whatever they wanted, but it usually involved hunting or fishing. He was immensely proud of the young men they have become.
Ken leaves a huge hole in the hearts of his family and friends. Ken is survived by his wife, Linda, of 58 years; sons, Kenneth "Scott" (Melanie) of Sault Ste Marie, MI and Chris (Courtney) of St. Johns, MI; brothers, Lyle (Cathy) of Laingsburg, MI and Gary (Becky) of Harrison, MI; sister, Carol Smith (Wayne) of Vestaburg, MI; grandsons, Jonathan of Greenville, MI, Luke of St. Johns, MI, Nathaniel of Sault Ste Marie, MI, Quinton of Sault Ste Marie, MI; and many other nieces, nephews and special cousins.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents, John and Doris Greenfield and a granddaughter, Jacey Greenfield.
