Koreen Kay Smith

Koreen Kay Smith (Sheibels), age 92, of De Witt, Michigan passed away on Friday, September 5, 2025. Koreen was born in Lansing, MI, on October 26, 1932 to Carl (Leola) Sheibels and Alma (William) Rosecrans. She attended and graduated from Eastern High School in Lansing, MI.

Koreen married Doyle Smith on June 24, 1950 in Lansing, MI and was happily married until Doyle's passing in 1997.

Koreen was a very skilled seamstress and worked for many years for Sears as a seamstress and tailor in the men's department. She received many accolades for her fine workmanship. Even after her hands were racked with arthritis, she would be crocheting washcloths.

Besides her passion for sewing, Koreen loved to cook. She would prepare wonderful meals for family and friends, She also enjoyed singing, playing games and camping. Her favorite spots to travel to was traveling up north. Koreen and Doyle would eventually settle at a place in Round Lake, Mecosta, MI.

Koreen was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and a great friend to all. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, who were her pride and joy!

She was preceded in death by her parents; Carl and Alma Sheibels; her husband, Doyle; a daughter, Diane Mosier; and her sister, Arlene Carmany.

Surviving are her children, Doyle (Ed) and Robbin Smith Jr., Debra and Rick Johnston, Dwayne and Michelle Smith and son-in-law James Mosier; grandchildren, Scott and Kimberly LaMacchia, Robin and Stephen Spinner, Kevin and Stacy LaMacchia, Andrea Smith, Derrek and Tamara Smith, Jody Johnston, Holly and Erik Bishop, Mandy and Scott Gauss, Aleisha and Justin Koos, Shayne and Miranda Smith; 21 great grandchildren and one great great grandson.

A visitation for Koreen will be held Tuesday, September 9, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 205 E Washington, DeWitt, MI 48820, and on Wednesday, September 10, 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, September 10, 2025 at 10 AM at the funeral home, with Pastor Rick Ruble officiating. Burial at Hurd Cemetery in DeWitt, MI.
