Lucille was born in Garden City, Michigan, on September 12, 1927, the youngest of three children, to parents Emma Wegman Burke and Glenn Burke. She spent her youth and teen years in Garden City, graduating in 1945 from Fordson High School in Dearborn and later marrying Leo Edward Perrin on September 10, 1949. They had four children, raising them primarily in Wayne and Tecumseh.
While living in Tecumseh, Lucille worked 15 years for the public schools retiring in 1981. She and Leo later moved to the family property on Schoolsection Lake in Mecosta, where they enjoyed most of their retirement, also traveling and spending many winters in the Venice, Florida area. They returned to Mecosta full time in 2013, then made a permanent move to East Lansing in 2017.
Lucille enjoyed family, hosting grandchildren at the lake, volunteering with Helping Hands organization, taking classes, and playing Scrabble, cards and other games with friends. She enjoyed organizing social activities and served on welcoming committees for new neighbors. Her favorite color was blue, visible wherever she lived. She and Leo traveled over the years to Europe, including her mother’s home country of Switzerland, and in the U.S., often to the southwest and as far as Alaska and Hawaii. Lucille would say she had a good life and was grateful to God, family and friends for their love and support over the years.
She was preceded in death by her husband Leo of 69 years in 2018, her brothers Earl Burke and Glenn Burke, and a granddaughter, Anna Fielder. Surviving are her four children: Mark (Jackie) Perrin, Marsha (George) Fielder, Cindy (John) Suppnick and David (Deborah) Perrin, as well as grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Jenny (Jeff) Jones and Jillian Jones; Justin (Amanda) Fielder and Jack, Kate and Elle Fielder; Julia (Casey) Carlo; Michelle (Patrick) Gallagher and Kayla Randall, Dessa and Izzy Gallagher; Dan (Rachel Rosenberg) Suppnick and Skylar Suppnick; Melody Perrin; Nick (Hailey) Bond and family. Lucille is also survived by half-sister Patti Burke, several nieces and nephews and their families.
Visitation gathering will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2026, beginning at 12:30pm until the memorial service at 1:00pm at the DeWitt Chapel of the Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home, 205 E. Washington, DeWitt, MI 48820. After the memorial service, a light luncheon will follow at the funeral home.
Lucille has chosen cremation and will be buried alongside Leo in a location to be determined by her children.
