Leo Edward Perrin
August 11, 1926 – November 25, 2018
Leo Edward Perrin, of East Lansing, Michigan, passed away at Hospice House of Mid-Michigan on Sunday, November 25, 2018, at the age of 92. Leo was born in Detroit on August 11, 1926, the fourth of seven children, to parents James J. and Gerardine R. Perrin. Much of his youth was spent in Garden City. He graduated from Fordson High School in Dearborn, served in the U.S. Army, and later earned an associate degree in accounting which provided for a long career with General Motors.
Leo married Lena Lucille Burke on September 10, 1949, and they had four children, raising their family primarily in Wayne and Tecumseh. After retiring in 1981, they moved to the family property on Schoolsection Lake in Mecosta. He and Lucille then spent many winters in the Venice, Florida, area, until returning to Michigan full time in 2013. Leo was a genuinely good and caring man who enjoyed his family, his career, his retirement, fixing things, hunting and fishing, the Detroit Tigers, serving God and others as a good neighbor, and his coffee with cream and sugar. He was a beloved and positive role model as a husband, father and grandfather.
Leo is survived by his wife of 69 years, Lucille, and their children Mark (Jackie) Perrin, Marsha (George) Fielder, Cindy (John) Suppnick and David (Deb) Perrin; grandchildren Jenny (Jeff) Jones, Justin (Amanda) Fielder, Anna Fielder, Julia (Casey) Carlo, Michelle (Patrick) Gallagher, Dan Suppnick, Melody Perrin and Nick (Hailey) Daniel; great-grandchildren Jillian Jones, Kayla Randall, Dessa and Quinn Gallagher, Jack, Kate and Elle Fielder, and Abigail Barnard. Leo is also survived by one brother, Jerome Perrin, several nieces and nephews and their families.
A private family memorial service will be held at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home in DeWitt, Michigan. The family extends its gratitude to the Sparrow Home Hospice staff and Hospice House of Mid-Michigan staff and volunteers for their special care.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Hospice or a charity of your choice in Leo’s name.
