Leslie attended East Lansing High School and continued on to graduate from Lansing Community College with a completed R.N. degree. Leslie was a corpsman in the Army National Guard for 17 years, and completed his service career at the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was awarded an Achievement Medal for his service in Honduras in 1986. Leslie worked at a number of hospitals in the Lansing area throughout his career before working in the Cardiac ICU at Sparrow, where he met his wife, Rhonda.
Leslie is survived by many others, his daughter, Molly (TJ Sanders); his son, Jordan Moffitt; his siblings, Alisa (Jack Winningham), Vera (Randy Cigan); and his nieces and nephews, Tera, Kaare, Abby, Austin, and Aiden.
Leslie will be remembered by all as a kind and gentle soul, who loved skiing, horses, biking and reading. He was a very devoted and loving husband. Les and Rhonda went on many trips together all over the world to see and experience new things. Les really enjoyed his different careers in the medical field and loved the nurses he worked with. His love for skiing took him all over the world, leading him to become part of the National Ski Patrol at Nubs Nob. The only passion that topped skiing was his adoration for his horses. If he wasn’t with his horses, you could bet he was on his bike for miles. Biking was such a big part of Les’ life, and he shared this hobby with Rhonda, quickly becoming THEIR favorite pass-time. Outside of his active life, you could find Les lounging on the couch with his nose in a book, from one of his favorite authors.
