February 18, 1946 – May 17, 2026
Linda Lee Hatt (Leazenby), age 80, of Lansing, Michigan, passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 17, 2026.
Born on February 18, 1946, in Ionia, Michigan, to Earl and Hazel Leazenby (Bozung), Linda was a deeply resilient woman whose strength was shaped by life’s hardships from an early age. Losing her father as a child left a lasting impact on her family and taught her early on how to carry on through difficult times with determination and grace. Following this loss, her family relocated from their farm in Ionia County to Lake Odessa, where she graduated from Lakewood High School in 1964.
Shortly after graduating, Linda moved to Lansing and married the love of her life, Ted Hatt, in 1965. Together, they built a marriage rooted in loyalty, endurance, and love, sharing 35 years together until his passing in 2000.
Linda faced profound loss throughout her life, including the passing of her daughter, Gayle, in 2001. Even through heartbreak, she remained steady, carrying herself with quiet strength and continuing to move forward for those she loved.
One of Linda’s greatest acts of love was stepping in to help raise her granddaughter, Haley, after the passing of her daughter. She provided a steady home filled with support, guidance, and unconditional love. She became a constant source of strength and stability—someone Haley could always rely on and be deeply shaped by throughout her life.
In 2009, Linda retired after 23 years of dedicated service at the Sheraton Hotel. In retirement, she found joy in life’s simple comforts—reading, watching Lifetime movies, enjoying a glass of Pepsi, and spending time with her granddaughter and great-granddaughters, who were her greatest pride. She also shared a special bond with her beloved Pomeranian, Duchess, who brought her companionship and joy.
Linda will be remembered as a strong and resilient woman with a sassy spirit, a warm heart, and a presence that could fill any room. She endured life’s hardest moments with dignity, yet never lost her ability to laugh, love deeply, and find joy in everyday life. To those who knew her, she was a source of strength, comfort, and unwavering love.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Ted Hatt; her daughter, Gayle Coates; her parents, Earl and Hazel Leazenby; and her beloved Pomeranian, Duchess.
She is survived by her granddaughter, Haley Rutka (Gabriel Garcia), and her great-granddaughters, Gabriella, Savannah, and Sofia Garcia.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Ingham County Animal Shelter, this is where she adopted her beloved Pomeranian, Duchess.
A Committal Service will be held at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, 5401 N Michigan Rd, Dimondale, MI 48821, on May 28, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 1:30 pm.
