Lisa fought courageously and non-stop as she battled ovarian cancer. In honor of a life full of love, we want to honor Lisa and name a few of the things she loved most.
First and foremost, she loved her husband of 43 years, Brian. He was by her side, often hand in hand, as her moral and emotional support, appointment chauffeur, and at the end loving caregiver. Lisa also loved her boys, Joshua (and his wife, Cristina), and Kyle (and his wife, Casey). Within the last 2 years, two additional people blessed Lisa’s life and were making a strong case to supplant her own children on her list of favorites - her grandbabies, Magnolia Grace and Kensington Jean. Nana LOVED LOVED LOVED her grandbabies, in fact – one of Lisa’s greatest joys in life were her dear sweet grandbabies. And for those who knew Lisa the closest, you know she loved her police scanner as she liked to stay up to date on everything happening in DeWitt.
Lisa also loved her mom and dad, James and Emma Decatur; her brothers, Bryan and James Decatur; and her sisters, Janine (husband Joe Cavanaugh), Karen Decatur, Wendy Brown (husband James Brown), and Kathy (husband Tom Harrington). She also loved, and was so grateful for, her four-legged companion, Diesel (aka Bubbas) who often accompanied her at home after her chemo treatments. There are obviously many more people whose friendship Lisa cherished – whether you were a frequent visitor to the office at the DeWitt Grain Elevator, volunteered with her at Church, or were part of her Thursday morning breakfast gang at the Family Tree Café – just know that your friendship meant so much to her over the years.
While Lisa’s battle with cancer is over – and she is no longer in pain – we are grateful that her memory will live forever among her family and friends.
Our family wants to acknowledge and extend heartfelt gratitude for all the prayers, cards, phone calls, house visits, food, and general support during this tough time. Just know that you are all deeply, deeply, appreciated.
