Lurenea Rosalie Turcotte

Lurenea Rosalie Turcotte (née Cornell), 82, passed away peacefully on August 15, 2026. She will be remembered for her unwavering faith in Jesus, her deep love for her family, and the countless lives she touched throughout her years.

Lurenea was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Henry Turcotte, with whom she shared 55 years of marriage. Together, they raised five children: Patrick (Debbie) Turcotte, Steve (Uta) Turcotte, Glenn (Wanda) Turcotte, Gene (Karen) Turcotte, and Renee-Laura (Eric) Hoekstra.

Lurenea was blessed with 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought great joy to her life. She loved each of her grands like her own children and adored her time with them. She also had a special role in raising two of her grandchildren, Adam Hoekstra and Brianna Hoekstra, helping provide the love, care, and stability they needed while their mother faced ongoing health challenges. Her love extended beyond her immediate family as well. She considered special nephews, Eric, Keith, and Jason Badgley, and John Shaver V, to be her “bonus sons”, and loved all her other nieces and nephews dearly.

Throughout her life, Lurenea was a mother-like figure to many people. She had a gift for making others feel loved, welcomed, and cared for. Her home and her heart were open to those who needed encouragement, guidance, or simply someone to listen.

Lurenea’s faith in Jesus was the foundation of her life. She gave her life to Him at the age of 11 and remained devoted to following Him throughout her 71 years as a believer. She taught Sunday School at South Riley Bible Church for 25 years, investing in generations of children and sharing with them the love and truth of God’s Word.

For many years, Lurenea was a regular attendee of Trinity/One Church, where she made countless friends and became a beloved part of the church community. She was passionate about sharing the Good News of Jesus with others, not merely through her words but through the way she lived—with compassion, generosity, faithfulness, and love. She was also a longtime member of The Delta Dames: A local women's club and enjoyed her friendships with the other ladies.

Lurenea leaves behind a legacy that reaches far beyond her immediate family. She was a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, teacher, friend, and spiritual encourager to many. Those who knew her will remember her strong faith, her caring heart, and her desire for everyone she met to know the hope she had found in Jesus.

Though she will be deeply missed, her family and friends find comfort in knowing that Lurenea is now with the Savior she loved and served throughout her life.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Turcotte; daughter-in-law, Delores; her parents, John O. and Rebecca Cornell; siblings, Owen and Charles Cornell; and her sister, Sherril Badgley.

She is survived by her siblings Connie (David) Dennis, John Cornell, and Terry Cornell; Denise (John IV) Shaver, sons, daughter, and their spouses; and her grandchildren, Josh, Michaela, Natasha, Kyle, Jenna, Laura, Brittany, Shawn, Victoria, Collin, Tiffany, Holly, Hunter, Adam and Brianna.

A Celebration of her home-going will be held Monday, August 24, 2026, at One Church (formerly Trinity), 3355 Dunckel Rd, Lansing. A short visitation will be held from 10 am to approximately 10:45 am. The Celebration of life will then commence, with a burial procession immediately following the celebration. A light luncheon will be served at One Church following burial.
