Lyndon Arthur Beck

Lyndon was born on April 28, 1938, in Lansing, Michigan, to Eldon and Thelma (Mead) Beck. He graduated from Eastern High School in Lansing in 1956 and went on to earn his degree in Fire Science from Lansing Community College. He proudly served four years in the United States Navy as a Seabee. Following his military service, Lyndon worked for John Bean and the East Lansing Fire Department, where he dedicated his career to serving his community and ultimately retired as Fire Marshal. He also owned and operated Lyndon Beck Building, where he could put his hands, his experience, and his love of completing projects to good use.

On June 1, 1957, Lyndon married the love of his life, Patricia (Locke) Beck, at Mt. Hope Methodist Church in Lansing. Together, they built a life centered around family, hard work, service, and countless memories. Lyndon's greatest accomplishment in life was his family. He took immense pride in his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and loved being a part of their lives.

Lyndon also loved fishing, traveling, and spending time at the family cabin on Platt Lake in Honor, Michigan (he especially enjoyed taking the "cow way"). He found great satisfaction in volunteering and giving back to his community and was very generous with his time and talent. Over the years, he served on the Salvation Army Board, was active with Methodist Men, worked as a Scout leader, and was a member of the Freemasons.

Those who knew Lyndon will remember him as a wiseass with a quick wit, a generous heart, and a deep love for the people around him. He had a way of making people laugh, lending a helping hand, and leaving things better than he found them.

Lyndon is survived by his beloved wife of 69 years, Patricia (Locke) Beck; children, Cindy Beck and Brian (Wendy) Beck; grandchildren, Krista (Terry) Cornell, Brooke (Brandon) Beck, and Evan (Jolene) Beck; great-grandchildren, T.J. Cornell, Georgia Moore, Easton Beck, Jadyn Cornell, Hunter Moore, Cierra Stewart, Charlie Cornell, Chad Moore, and Bexley Beck; great-great-grandchild, Kamdyn Cornell-Hiatt; siblings, Julia Boyd and Terri (Don) Huff; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Eldon and Thelma Beck; and siblings, Alice Jordan, Alwood "Bud" Beck, and Phillis "Jane" Miller.

A memorial service for Lyndon will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Hope Community Church, 501 E Mt. Hope Ave., Lansing, MI 48910, Pastor Eric Mulanda officiating.
