Marilyn was born in Lansing, MI January 24, 1945, the daughter of Gerald and Delpha Perkins. She married Arlo "Bill" Pickens Jr. on February 20, 1965 in Lansing, Michigan, where they resided for most of their lives.
Arlo preceded her in death on December 19, 2011. Her greatest joy was her daughter, Chris, who survives her. Marilyn loved watching MSU Spartan football and basketball, bowling, camping, bonfires, board and card games (where she was fiercely competitive), and travel and adventure with family and friends. A stranger to people just once, Marilyn was loved by everyone who met her.
She is survived by her daughter, Chris Pickens of Lansing; kitties, Peppercorn and Marshmallow; and her grand kitties, Piper and Bailey. She is also survived by sister-in-law, Myra Perkins; sisters, Louanne Heinze, Carolyn Doerr, and Nancy (Bill) Heinze; in-laws, Sue (Deena Kerridge) Pickens, Nannette Pickens, Gary Parks, Scott (Teresa) Pickens, and Steve (Mellissa) Pickens; and many beloved nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by parents, Gerald and Delpha Perkins; brother, Garry Perkins; and in-laws, Arlo Sr. and Margaret "Peggy" Pickens and Debra (Pickens) Parks.
Family and friends will be invited to share their stories and memories of Marilyn at the Memorial Service.
