Mary Lynn (Rhynard) Baumgras, 65, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, June 10, 2016, after a recent illness. She was born on February 16, 1951, the daughter of Baisel and Mary Rhynard of Bath, Michigan. Mary graduated from Bath High School with the class of 1969. In 1992, she married Paul Baumgras. Mary worked for Sparrow Hospital as a CMA (Certified Medical Assistant) for 17 years and retired in 2011. Prior to that time she worked for Dr. James Scott in East Lansing. Mary was an avid gardener and loved working in her flower garden. She took great pride in her two grandchildren, Tristan and Celeste. Mary also loved her two dogs, Charlie and Baxter, and had a special place in her heart for Reilly, a soft-coated Wheaton Terrier. Everyone who met Mary, and became her friend, was treated to a special love and affection that only she could give. To say that Mary was beloved by every member of her immediate and extended family is an understatement. The family wishes to thank the Tri-County Office on Aging and Sparrow Hospice Homecare for the exceptional care they provided Mary during her illness. Paul would like to specially thank her daily caregivers, Charlotte O’Bryan, Joan Taylor and Trina Steffans for the kind and wonderful care they gave to Mary.
Mary was preceded in death by her mother, Mary L. Rhynard; and her brother-in-law, David E. Thompson. She is survived by her husband, Paul Baumgras; son, William Van Ostran; daughter, Wendy (Jacob) Villemure; sisters, Louise (David) Thompson, Joan (John) Vink and Karen (Dr. Frederick) Kron; brother, Baisel (Martha) Rhynard; grandchildren, Tristan and Celeste; and many nieces and nephews. Visitations will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 15 and Thursday, June 16, 2016 at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 205 E. Washington, Dewitt, MI. For those desiring, contributions may be made to Sparrow Home Hospice, 306 East Elm Street, St. Johns, MI 48879 or Tri-County Office on Aging, 5303 S.
