Nora May Dugan, 98. Born May 17, 1920, died December 18, 2018. Nora was a beautiful, loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and etc. for two more generations thereafter. She was preceded in death by her husband, John F. Dugan; eldest son Carl Dugan; and three Grandchildren. She is survived by her sons Daniel Dugan, George Dugan, Clyde (Jeanie) Dugan, and Mark (Dustilin) Dugan; Carl’s wife Eunice; her Grandchildren; Great-grandchildren; Great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews among the extended family.
John & Nora were deeply devoted to each other in a marriage that spanned 68 years, and John has been in her heart ever since. Together they raised a family of five boys, and for most of that time on a farm in Clinton County along the banks of the Looking Glass River. The entire family has deep-seated roots in that soil, and most have remained in fairly close proximity.
Nora was the eldest of 8 children and was the last surviving member of her family. As the eldest child, she assisted in the care of her younger siblings prior to her marriage to John. She and John were both children and young adults during the Great Depression, an event that indelibly affected their lives. Many of those life lessons were passed on to their children and those to follow. Soon after marriage, John was called to serve in the US Navy during World War II, and Nora raised the elder two sons during his absence, proving her strength and resiliency by making a warm and happy home on meager means. That tradition carried after John’s return, and we have all been greatly blessed to have her in our lives.
A special thanks goes to all the folks that pitched in to assist in her later years, allowing this wonderful lady to spend her days in the peace and serenity of that same farm along the banks of the Looking Glass. May Nora now have that long-deserved rest in peace!
A visitation will be held December 22nd at 11 AM at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes DeWitt Chapel, followed by a service at 12 PM. A graveside service will take place at Rose Cemetery in Bath Township.
