Normalee "Kit" Fisher

February 23, 1926February 2, 2019

Normalee “Kit” Fisher, 92, passed away on Saturday, February 2, 2019. She was born in Ferndale, Michigan on February 23, 1926. She was a truly gifted painter who could work well with any medium, and her passion for color and her eye for artistic detail was evident throughout her life. She volunteered for 22 years with the Mary Magdalen League at Sparrow Hospital St. Lawrence campus, as a buyer for floral items in the gift shop, and for a period of time, Kit was the assistant gift shop manager.

Kit loved animals, and pets were an important part of her life. The Lord sent her a sweet cat named Scooter, who was her companion and comfort.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Harold Fisher and too many of her treasured friends. She will be lovingly remembered for her fierce independence and loving spirit by her stepdaughter, Jeannie (Brian C.) Mallick; her granddaughter, Monica Mallick; and all her friends who belonged to The Mary Magdalen League, her ladies group the Dominettes who gathered to play dominos, and her friends with the Michigan State Club who formed a dedicated group of bridge players. Memorial contributions may be made in Kit’s honor to the Ingham County Animal Shelter in memory of Kit’s love for animals.

Kit was wonderful neighbor and will be greatly missed! We will miss seeing her call out for Scooter and the opportunities to try to help her. I will never forget the time she told me to leave the yard while trying to help.

Kit was a woman full of grace and charm. She always had a warm smile and a friendly greeting for everyone she met. It certainly was my pleasure to work with her occasionally in the gift shop . She will be fondly remembered.

Kit was a close friend of mine for 25 years. I have so many wonderful memories of our times together. We made floral arrangements for the gift shop for over 20 years. We also went on weekend golf trips to Cadillac and overnighters to the English Inn to play bridge. My husband and I will both miss her so much.
