

She was born on August 7, 1943, in Owosso, Michigan, the daughter of Edward E. and Helen M. Tanner. Patricia married the love of her life, Clayton G. Smith, with whom she shared many years of love, faith, and family until his passing in 2020.
Patricia earned an associate degree from Michigan State University. She devoted her life to her family as a stay-at-home mother and was a faithful member of St. Jude Catholic Church in DeWitt. Known for her joyful spirit and devotion to prayer, Patricia was a true prayer warrior on behalf of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She loved reading her Bible, attending church, baking her famous pies, and spending time with her grandchildren. She was extremely funny, loved to laugh, and brought warmth and joy to all who knew her.
Patricia is survived by her children: Bradley (Kandy) Smith of Holt, MI; Jodi (Ross) Jeffrey of Webberville, MI; and Gregory (Maria) Smith of DeWitt, MI. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Joshua (29), Cole (25), Lexie (23), Owen (20), Ben (18), Jayme (18), and Shane (16).
She is also survived by her siblings: Sharon (Daniel) McKeown of Cadillac, MI; Thomas Tanner of St. Johns, MI; Jackie (Ric) Osborn of Arizona; Jim (Heidi) Tanner of Arizona; Jean Tanner of Haslett, MI; Greg (Pennie) Tanner of Harbor Springs, MI; and Jana (Mike) Grove of Haslett, MI.
Patricia was preceded in death by her husband, Clayton G. Smith (October 25, 2020); her grandson, Jacob J. Andrew Smith (February 13, 2016); her parents, Edward and Helen Tanner of Florida; her sister, Shelly Walters of Michigan; her brother, Richard Tanner of Michigan; and her sister, Barbara (Mike) Wheeler of Haslett, MI (March 21, 2014).
Patricia will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Her faith, laughter, and love will continue to inspire all who knew her.
