Phillip R. Thomas

Phillip Thomas, born August 10, 1940 to Milton and Evelyn (DeYoung) Thomas, passed away October 14, 2014. Phil was a member of Calvary Baptist Church since 1968. He was also a member of the Lions Club for over 50 years, holding numerous positions in the organization. Phil was a big fan of the Spartans, Lions and Tigers. The family extends special thanks to Southern Care Hospice as well as Dennis Bateman and Linda Dunlap for their wonderful care. Surviving to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 49 years, DeeAnne Thomas; daughter, Tracee Thomas; future son-in-law, Dennis Bateman; sisters, Nancy (Estile) Wooten; and Sharon (Mike) Whetstone; and brother, Tim (Penny) Thomas. Funeral services, officiated by Pastor Don Gommeson, Pastor Emeritus Errol Jameson, and Pastor Mike Hixson, will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 18, at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 205 E. Washington in DeWitt. Family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 17, at the funeral home.
