Phyllis had a 30 year career with the State of Michigan, with the majority of her time working for the Department of Mental Health in the Lewis Cass Building. While she was with the Department, she met her late husband Jack Sutton. They were married in Lansing on April 13, 1957. Together they were lifelong members of South Baptist Church. Phyllis was an amazing cook and baker, rarely relying on a recipe! She was especially renowned for her amazing Christmas cookies. Phyllis also enjoyed flower gardening with Jack around their family home in DeWitt, Michigan.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband Jack of 66 years and her parents. She is survived by her sons Jeff (Cathy) and Steve (Cheryl), sister-in-law Diane (Case), brother-in-law Robert Holmes, grandchildren Colter, Amanda, and Sam.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Ridge at Lansing and Hospice of Lansing for their compassion and care of Phyllis these last few years.
A private celebration of life will be held in the future.
