Born on July 31, 1948, in the quiet town of Lorado, West Virginia, Richard lived a life full of warmth, laughter, and love.
Richard's early years were spent in Lansing, Michigan, where he completed his education at Eastern High School. It was here that he began to develop the quick wit and storytelling ability that would endear him to everyone he met throughout his life.
After his schooling, Richard embarked on a long and fulfilling career with the Waverly school district. His dedication and passion for his work made a significant impact on countless students and colleagues until his well-deserved retirement.
Richard married the love of his life, Betty, and together they built a beautiful life over their 32 years of marriage. Their shared love of travel took them on many adventures, creating memories that will forever be cherished. Richard was incredibly proud of his three children, Tammy (Doug), Michael (Alisa), and Sylvia, who carry forward his legacy of kindness and humor. His four grandchildren, Codey (Erin), Cortney, Lily, and Sophia, brought immense joy to his life, and he loved nothing more than spending time with them, often sharing stories and laughter.
Outside of his family and career, Richard was an avid golfer and found great joy on the golf course. He was also a passionate card player, known for his competitive spirit, and a karaoke singer who could light up any room with his performances. His friends and family will fondly remember the countless evenings spent enjoying his company, where his humor and zest for life always shone through.
Dick will be remembered for his generous heart, infectious laughter, and the indelible mark he left on everyone fortunate enough to know him. His presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the stories and memories he has left behind.
