Robert was born on January 22, 1937 in Battle Creek, MI and he passed away on November 5, 2023 in DeWitt, MI. He was the youngest of five siblings - two brothers and two sisters, Virginia, John, Charles, and Donna.
Bob attended Post Elementary, South Eastern Jr. High, and graduated from Battle Creek Central High School in 1956. He was a three year varsity tennis letterman, a member of the Air National Guard, and a professional magician: Duane, Master of Magic.
Bob enlisted in the US Army and was stationed in Germany with the 3rd Armored Division from 1958-1960.
He received an Associate’s Degree in Business from Grand Rapids Jr College and a BA and MBA from Michigan State University (1969-1972). He began his employment at MSU in 1972 at Instructional Media, administrator at Olin Health, and went on to be business and facilities manager at the College of Veterinary Medicine. He retired from MSU after 27 years in June 1998.
Bob was a true Spartan - spirited, loyal and proud. As an MSU fan, he was a member of the Downtown Coaches Club, MSU President's Club and a season ticket holder for MSU Football and Men's Basketball since 1972. His favorite song was the MSU Fight Song. Go Green!
Bob was an intelligent, inquisitive man with a quick wit and unique sense of humor. He had many interests: He was a volunteer fireman in the 1970s, received his builder’s license in 1985, enjoyed playing golf and became a military memorabilia collector.
His number one priority was his family. He is survived by his life partner, Kathryn Foley; two sons, Jeff and Jay; two grandchildren, Jessica Hook, and Brian (Taylor) Hook; and great-grandson, Lincoln Hook. He always enjoyed the Hook Reunions and seeing his family and many special nieces and nephews.
According to Bob's wishes, a Celebration of Life will be held at a later time. Memorial donations can be made in Bob's honor to the Shriner's Children or St. Jude Children's Hospital.
