Robert "Papa" Segraves

The passing of our husband, dad, and papa saddens us. Robert lived a full life, which we are all thankful for. He was a true family man, with a wife, two daughters, and a son. He loved to spend his spare time at home with his family or working out in his wood shop. It was no secret that he had a special bond with his son, Greg. He was thoroughly involved in his life through scouts, hunting, and fishing, along with teaching him every life skill a man needs. His daughter, Susan, remembers him fondly for his ability to build or fix anything. Together with his daughter, Shelley, they would create items for the craft shows. He would do the woodwork, and she would paint the items for him.

He and his wife built their life together in DeWitt, Michigan, with their three children, and owned a home in Ludington, Michigan, for many years, just two blocks from their son and his family. He was a man of many skills and applied them to each of their homes. He was always helping his family with projects.

In his spare time, it was safe to say that he had a great desire for the world of cinema. He loved to get lost in an old western, along with anything else that caught his eye. He was a creative man who dabbled with photography, making sure the family memories were preserved through photos and video. He was always crafting something beautiful in his workshop with wood and metal.

Robert Lloyd Segraves was born in Hudson, Michigan, on October 7, 1939, to Lloyd and Elsie Segraves. They had two children, Pat and Robert. He retired from the State of Michigan Highway Department.

Robert is survived by his sister, Pat Hansen; his wife, Lynda Segraves; his daughters, Shelley (Phil) Stewart, Susan (John) Deyo; and his son, Greg (Jen) Segraves. His grandchildren are Jennifer Kemp, Heather Tolliver, Hollie Stewart, Scott Stewart, Mike Deyo, Amie Deyo, and Dawson Segraves. His great-grandchildren are Katelyn Kemp, Gavin Kemp, Jaden Snow, Mallorie Snow, Tess Tolliver, Hunter Tolliver, Connor Deyo, Peyton Deyo, Emma Deyo, Rowan Stewart, and Willow Stewart.

There will be no official funeral service at this time. The family has planned a private gathering to celebrate his life at a later date.
