Bob was a loving brother and a friend to many who always called him “Uncle Bob”. Bob passed away June 25th, 2025, he was born April 19th, 1943 in Lansing, Michigan. He graduated from Everett High School and attended classes at Lansing Community College. Bob served in the US Army from August 1962 and was honorably discharged August 1968. Bob served in Korea and when returned home he was deployed to Viet Nam.
He enjoyed living in Houghton Lake, fishing and boat riding and just sitting and enjoying looking out at the lake. Bob also did some traveling in the fall to see the colorful trees. He enjoyed his trips to Las Vegas and entering the tournaments with hopes of winning and at least enough to pay for his trip. Bob retired from GM in 1999 working as a foundry worker and also as a supervisor. After his retirement he moved to Houghton Lake as his permanent address.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Dorothy Stephenson; niece, Gabriella Lara and nephew John Stephenson, Jr. He is survived by his sisters, Barbara (David, deceased) Coey, Nancy (Kenneth, deceased) Harder, Sue Brown and brother John (Mary) Stephenson and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donate to your favorite charity.
A visitation for Robert will be held Tuesday, July 1, 2025 from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 205 E Washington, DeWitt, MI 48820. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, July 2, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, at the funeral home with Military Honors provided by the American Legion and VFW Grand Ledge Honor Guard. A graveside service will follow at DeepDale Memorial Gardens. Luncheon to follow at the Moose Lodge on old 27 in DeWitt across from Green Acres Motel.
