Robert was born in Saginaw MI on June 7, 1939 to Jesus and Petra (Ortega) Torrez and died on April 7, 2012 at the age of 72. He retired from General Motors after working there for 30 years. Bob was in the U.S. Air Force where he served his country proudly. He had been a resident of the DeWitt area since 1974. Bob loved the outdoors and working in his garden was his passion. He was proud to be Mexican. Bob is preceded in death by his parents, brothers David Torrez and Ernie Torrez. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Bob is survived by his devoted wife of 45 years, Loretta; daughter Lorinda “Chula” (Richard) Guerrazzi-Torrez; son Thomas (Maria “Sylvia”) Torrez; grandchildren Viviano Soliz Jr., Leonardo Guerrazzi-Torrez, Mia Torrez, Gaspero “G.G.” Guerrazzi-Torrez, Nayeli Torrez; brothers, George (Narse) Torrez, Benny Joe (Patty) Torrez; sisters, Ramona (Eliseo) Diaz DeLeon, Olivia (Ray) Flores; Angie (Don Ruggles) Torrez, Lupe Torrez, Mary Ellen Torrez; sisters-in-law, Mary Torrez; Alice Torrez and several nieces and nephews. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 12, 2012, at the Catholic Community of St Jude, 801 N. Bridge St. DeWitt, MI with Rev. Dwight Ezop officiating. Visitation with the family will be on Wednesday, April 11, 2012 from 2-4 and 6-8pm at the Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, DeWitt Chapel, 205 E. Washington, DeWitt, MI. with the Rosary recited at 7:30 p.m. Interment with Military honors, will follow the service at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Lansing. Contributions may be made to the Michigan State University, M.S.U. Gardens, A288 Plant and Soil Science Building, East Lansing, MI 48823 in Roberts’s name.
