Ronald James Hansen

December 27, 1943September 13, 2020

Ronald Hansen passed away peacefully on September 13, 2020. Born December 27th, 1943 in Lansing, MI to Arnold and Armella Hansen. Graduated from Okemos High School, class of 1962. Ron is survived by his wife of almost 56 years, Elaine; sons, Bill (Janice) Hansen, Rande (Suzanne) Hansen, James (Melonie) Hansen; daughter, Kelly Hansen; and his best friend & travel partner, Archie the Blue Heeler. He has four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Ron was preceded in death by his parents and his grandson, Jacob.

Ron spent many years helping his sons show cattle at the Clinton County Fair. He was always so proud of the many Grand and Reserve Champion beef steers that his boys exhibited, the pictures displayed on his living room walls.

After over 30 years of working for General Motors, Ron began his retirement. He sold off the cattle and soon after bought his beloved cabin in the U.P. where he spent time making many happy memories with his family.

Ron loved the Michigan State Spartans, the Detroit Redwings, gun & knife shows, the music of his youth, snowmobiling and any opportunity to crack a joke.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, Sept 19th 2020 at James Couzens Park 13753 Main St, Bath Twp, MI 48808, 1 - 5 PM. Casual attire, please.

I consider myself lucky to have spent part of my time at General Motors alongside Ron. His loud voice and smile was one of his signatures. I hope to see you someday, my friend. Keep the coffee warm.

I consider your friendship a blessing. I will always cherish the last time I talked to you; even though you weren’t feeling good and on your way home from the hospital, you made that phone call on your way past Houghton Lake. I will forever miss your calls checking in on me on your way to and from your cabin. Rest In Peace my friend.

Oh Ron... I honestly never thought we'd get to this point. I always thought you were too stubborn to pass away. I will miss watching the Marty Stewart show with you, the trips up north when we would call you from town, and you'd always be waiting outside with your dog when we pulled in. Your silly jokes and phrases (yes, I still "bounce around like a fart in a mitten" after having those creme curls you'd have waiting for me). The time you shot the racoon right off our front porch as I opened the door (you could've warned The snowmobile and quad trips, going to the Brewery for your favorite burger. There are too many memories to list them all. For 26 years, I was able to call you my father-in-law, and I'm so grateful for that. Fly high, Papa! Until we meet again. We love you so very much. ❤️
