Ronald "Ron" Earl Lebbon, age 75, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2025, in DeWitt, Michigan, after a courageous battle with bladder cancer. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Ron's life was marked by quiet strength, unwavering kindness, and a deep commitment to his family and community.
Born on October 17, 1949, in Detroit, Michigan, Ron was the son of Russell and Marcella Lebbon. He grew up in Detroit and graduated from Denby High School before pursuing higher education at Michigan State University. There he earned a bachelor's degree in engineering—a field that would become both his profession and passion.
Ron began his distinguished career in 1974 with the Department of Aeronautics, where he worked as an engineer until 2003. His contributions to aeronautical projects earned him multiple honors throughout his tenure. From 2003 to 2016, he continued to share his expertise as an Engineering Consultant with RW Armstrong-QoE. His dedication to excellence left a lasting impact on colleagues and the industry alike.
On August 29, 1969, Ron married Jeanne M. Lebbon—the love of his life and steadfast partner for over five decades. Together they built a warm and welcoming home filled with laughter and love. Ron was a loving and attentive husband whose easygoing nature made him beloved by all who knew him.
He took immense pride in his role as a father to Cathie Kurt and Edward Lebbon. He welcomed their spouses—Dave Kurt and Stacy—with open arms and cherished the time spent with his grandchildren: Nathan, Maddy, Emily, and Chris Kurt. Whether cheering them on at events or sharing stories over dinner, Ron’s presence was always steady and supportive.
Ron’s generosity extended beyond family. He was known for his patience and understanding with everyone he met—traits that endeared him to neighbors and friends alike. Always willing to lend a hand when needed, he lived by example through acts of quiet service.
A man of many interests, Ron found joy in bowling—proudly participating as a member of the American Bowling Congress—as well as hiking through Michigan’s scenic trails, traveling across the country with Jeanne by his side, and swimming during summer months. He also supported the arts as a member of the Lansing Symphony and gave back to those in need through involvement with the Lansing Food Bank.
Throughout his life journey—from Detroit to Alma to Lansing and finally DeWitt—Ron built lasting connections rooted in respect and compassion. His legacy lives on not only through his professional achievements but also through the countless lives he touched with warmth and humility.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents Russell and Marcella; grandparents Russell and Margaret Whiting; Roy and Marie Bachellor.
He is lovingly remembered by Jeanne; Cathie and Dave Kurt; Edward and Stacy Lebbon; siblings Lalah (Lebbon) Davis, Don Lebbon, and Karen (Lebbon) Nimphie; grandchildren Nathan, Maddie, Emily, and Chris; along with many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, dear friends—and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
May Ronald Earl Lebbon’s memory bring comfort to those who knew him—and may his legacy continue to inspire kindness for generations to come. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Lansing Food Bank.
