

Sharon Jean Holliday, age 84, passed away peacefully at her home in DeWitt, Michigan, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on November 20, 1940, in Lansing, Michigan, Sharon was the daughter of Ralph Waldo and Vivian Marie (Green) Holliday. She spent most of her life in the DeWitt area, where she was known for her dedication to family, faith, and service.
Sharon earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Central Michigan University, an Associate of Business from Lansing Community College, and an Associate of Nursing. She devoted more than 30 years to the State of Michigan Department of Agriculture as a lab technician. After retiring, she relocated to Zephyrhills, Florida, where she continued to serve her community as a substitute elementary school teacher and as a home health aide with Home Instead.
A woman of strong faith, Sharon was an active member of the church choir at both Redeemer Methodist Church in DeWitt and her Florida church. She cherished her time singing and worshiping alongside her fellow church members.
Sharon spent much of her life in DeWitt, then moved to Florida after her retirement to care for her aging parents. Following their passing, she moved back to DeWitt Michigan.
She is survived by her nieces, Lynnette (Scott) Forbes, Barb (Duane) McClung, and Stacey (Tracy) Boutwell; nephews, Clay Cunningham, Jeff (Anne) Cunningham, and Jim (Judy) Cunningham; and her sister-in-law, Karen (Phillips) Holliday. She also leaves behind several great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved dearly. Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Vivian Holliday; sister, Sue Cunningham; brother, James Holliday; and her brother-in-law, Don Cunningham.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date at Oakwood Cemetery in Lowell, Michigan, where she will be laid to rest alongside her parents and brother.
The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff of University of Michigan Hospice in Lansing for their compassionate care and support during Sharon’s final days.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Sharon’s memory to University of Michigan Sparrow Hospice.
Sharon’s family feels blessed to have been a part of her journey and will forever hold her in their hearts.
