Shirley E. Sanborn

Shirley Emily Sanborn, 87, of DeWitt passed away on May 14, 2017. Shirley was an animal and nature lover. Cats and birds were among her favorites. She never met a stray cat she didn’t like. She would also feed anything that came on her deck, from birds, raccoons and to even the possums. She was a BIG Detroit Tigers fan and followed the team closely. She also loved her cottage at Littlefield Lake where she loved taking a boat ride twice a day with her son. Above all, she loved her grandkids very much.

Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Florence Kobel (Tillson) and siblings, Frank, Dorothy and Ralph Kobel. She is survived by her son, Stephen (Machelle) McGiveron and her three grandkids, Michael, Patrick and Kelly McGiveron. She is also survived by her beloved cat, Sassy. The family will receive visitors on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Gorsline Runciman DeWitt Chapel, 205 E. Washington St., DeWitt, Michigan. The family requests that contributions be made to the Capital Area Humane Society, 7095 W. Grand River Ave., Lansing, Michigan 48906.
