

Steve Timko, age 91, of DeWitt, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family in the home he built in 1965 - a place that remained his anchor for more than six decades.
Steve was born on October 17, 1934, in Lansing, Michigan, to George and Rosa (Viko) Timko. A lifelong Michigan resident, Steve lived a steady, grounded life centered on home, family, and simple joys. He found great satisfaction in working outdoors and spent many summer days tending to his vegetable garden, a pastime that reflected his patience, care, and appreciation for the rewards of quiet dedication. He also cherished time spent with friends and shared a special fondness for his cats, whose companionship brought him comfort and happiness.
Steve was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Yvonne, with whom he shared 62 years of marriage. Together they built a life rooted in love, commitment, and family. He took great pride in watching his family grow through generations, and his legacy lives on in the many lives he touched.
He is survived by his children: Paul (Margaret) Timko of Lansing, Mark Timko of Lansing, Joan Clark of DeWitt, Mitchell Timko of Lansing, and Phyllis Daniels of Coleman. He is also survived by his sister, Bettie Turpening; his brother, Ernie Timko; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Yvonne; his sisters, Judy, Joann, and Barb; and his brothers, John and Tim.
In accordance with Steve’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and no Celebration of Life will be held. Those who wish to honor his memory are invited to consider a donation to their nearest no-kill animal shelter, reflecting Steve’s lifelong affection for animals.
