Born on June 17, 1943, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Frederick and Dorothy, Susan grew up with a dream of traveling the world—a dream she proudly fulfilled as a stewardess with American Airlines in the early 1960s. Her time in the skies remained one of her most cherished accomplishments and reflected her adventurous spirit and determination.
Following her years of travel, Susan transitioned into a long and successful career with Northwestern Mutual Life. Her dedication and professionalism left a lasting impression on colleagues and clients alike. Even after retirement, she continued to inspire those around her with her creativity and warmth.
Susan had a deep appreciation for art and beauty. She enjoyed painting and found joy in expressing herself through color and brushstroke. A devoted fan of Hallmark, she delighted in sharing thoughtful cards and gifts that brought smiles to others—small gestures that reflected her generous heart.
A woman of faith, Susan was a member of Redeemer in DeWitt. Her spiritual life was an important part of who she was and guided her actions throughout her life.
She is lovingly remembered by her son, Mark, and his wife, Casey; her treasured grandchildren, Macy, Emma, and Ella; and her brother, Dan, and his wife, Robin. She also leaves behind their children—Ben, Kim, and Stephanie—who were dear to her.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2025, from 12 PM until the memorial service at 1 PM at the DeWitt Chapel of the Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home, located at 205 E. Washington Street in DeWitt.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Capital Area Humane Society, Redeemer Church or the Wacousta/DeWitt Masonic Lodge in Susan’s memory (please see links below).
