

A loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend to many, Andrew C. Hymel, Sr., passed away on October 22, 2017 at the age of 91. He was a native of Convent and a lifelong resident of Donaldsonville. He was a graduate of Southwestern University of Lafayette and served in the United States Army during World War II. He was a member of the St. Francis Men’s Club, the American Legion, the Knights of Columbus and the BPO Elks. He was an avid LSU fan and he especially enjoyed duck hunting, fishing, and playing a good card game with friends. He was also the founder of Donaldsonville Auto Parts where he later retired. He is survived by his wife, Loretta Beech Hymel; one daughter, Stacey H. Latino (Byron); one son, Andrew “Drew” Hymel, Jr., (Cheryl); two grandchildren, Todd Hymel and Brad Hymel (Emily); two great-grandchildren, Gavin Hymel and Avery Hymel; two brothers, twin brother, Louis “L.J.” Hymel, Sr. (Gloria), and brother, Robert “Bobby” Hymel, Sr., (Ollie) and two sister in laws, Kay and Marie Hymel. He is preceded in death by his parents, James I. Hymel, Sr., and Marine Gravois Hymel; one daughter, Marla Claire Hymel; two wives, Evelyn “Coo” Falcon Hymel and Carmen Oubre Hymel; two brothers, Raymond “Ray” Hymel and James “Jimmy” Hymel, Jr.; and two in laws, George and Armede Falcon.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 from 8:30 am until the Mass of Christian burial for 11 am at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. Father Paul Yi will be officiating.
