Aubry was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, cousin, and friend. Known for his gentle heart and comical sense of humor, he brought joy and laughter to everyone around him. He had a nickname for everyone and every place that held a special meaning to him.
Aubry was a dedicated provider and an exceptionally hard worker. He began his career at Anco as an insulator and, through determination and skill, rose to the position of supervisor. After twenty-two years of service, he retired but his strong work ethic didn’t end there. Aubry returned to the workforce and spent another ten years driving tractors at Palo Alto Plantation.
In his younger years, Aubry enjoyed hunting and dancing. He was an outstanding dancer, often found taking over the dance floor. His love of music and movement was contagious, and he knew how to make a good time even better.
Later in life, Aubry found joy in the simplest things. He enjoyed piddling in his shed and sitting outside telling stories about the good ole days. Growing vegetables brought him peace, and he took pride in what he nurtured with his hands. Constantly sending us on an adventure, Aubry never passed up the chance to take a ride no matter where it was, he was ready to go even if the place was nonexistent!
More than anything, Aubry was a true Christian and a testament of faith. His devotion to Jesus was untouchable. He lived his life with humbleness, kindness, and unwavering belief, serving as a living example of what it means to walk in faith.
His life was rich with love, laughter, and purpose. Aubry’s stories, his spirit, and his deep care for others leave behind a legacy that will be cherished by all who knew him.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his two daughters, Monica Richard Hebert (Lawrence “Paul”) and Rachel Richard; four stepchildren, Becky Lee, Liz Sanamo (Warren Jr.), Cheryl Gauthreaux (Jacob) and Fred “Tommy” Richoux Jr. and their families; five grandchildren, Justin, Jacie and Maison Rivere, Hobie Hebert (Farrah) and Haze Hebert (Christy); eight great grandchildren, Karslyn Hebert, Davyd, Karlie, Cole and Colton Rivere, Zander, Milo and Mica Hebert; nieces and nephews, Tonie Aucoin (Carroll Jr.), Vicki Breaux (Ernie), Keith Boudreaux (Kelly), Ida Williams (Darryl) and Anthony “Bozo” Richard; his spoiled cat “TeeTee” whom he loved dearly and all his special friends.
He is preceded in death by his former wife, Shirley Aucoin Richard; companion of twenty-seven years, Audrey Melancon Richoux; parents Dorphy and Ada Cedotal Richard; one brother, Lynn Richard; one grandson, Matthew “Matt” Rivere and his godchild, Julie Richard Sagona.
A memorial visitation will be held at Pierre Part Christian Church in Pierre Part, LA, on Saturday, October 4, 2025, from 9am until Service at 12pm. Interment will take place at the St. Elizabeth Catholic Church Mausoleum.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to everyone who played a part in caring for Aubry during this difficult time. To his family members, nurses, doctors, ACG Hospice, the Paincourtville Fire Department, his neighbors and the Pierre Part Christian Church, especially Pastor Gerald Daigle and Sister Julie, your care and support have not gone unnoticed.
I am especially thankful for my mom, Monica, and my aunt, Rachel. Your support, love, and compassion have meant more than words can ever express. I will always be thankful for the love and care you both gave during this time. Even on the hardest days, you gave Pawpaw not only the care he needed, but the love, dignity, and comfort he deserved. When it would have been easier to give up — you kept going. Pawpaw felt that love. We all did.
