

Camille Tripode, Sr. “Paw Paw Cam”, was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Cam, 91, died on Wednesday, January 16, 2013, at Chateau D’Ville. He was a lifelong resident of Donaldsonville, and a graduate of Donaldsonville High School. He was a US Army veteran of World War II and served with Company A, 740th Railway Operations Battalion in northern France and Central Europe. He was decorated with a bronze star medal and theater of operations medals, along with the WWII victory medal. He was a retired contract carpenter for Local 1846 at CF Industries. Cam also worked for Home Gas and Company and worked with his family at the Mistretta and Sotile Candy Company. He was a charter member of the St. Joseph Society, and a member of the American Legion and the VFW. Survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, N.J. and Birdie Mullens Tripode, Frank and Linda DeBessonet Tripode, Camille, Jr. and Darcy Koonce Tripode, David and Gina Blanchard Tripode; daughters and sons-in-law, Virginia Tripode and Lester Rome, Jr., Marilyn Tripode and David Cagnolatti; 12 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Loretta Tripode Sotile and Angeline Tripode Nizzo; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Bena Sotile and Joseph Matassa, Jr. and Rosemarie Sotile Sheppard and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Concetta Sotile; parents Natale and Virginia Ianni Tripode; sister and brothers-in-law, Tina Tripode and William Giardina, Thomas Nizzo, Sr., Vincent Sotile, Sr., Ray Sheppard, Frank Sotile, Jr.; sisters-in-law, Katherine Eassa Sotile and Laura Sotile; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Frank Sr. and Rosa Mistretta Sotile. The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff of Chateau D’Ville and St. Joseph Hospice for the loving care given to our father. Visiting at Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Church, Donaldsonville, on January 19th from 8:30 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m., celebrated by Rev. Chris Decker.
