Clarence "Gus" Auguste Landry

October 28, 1939March 7, 2021

Clarence Auguste “Gus” Landry, 81, a native of Golden Meadow and resident of Donaldsonville, passed away on Sunday, March 7, 2021. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother. He was a graduate of ACHS class of ’58, a twenty year employee with Dow Chemical and an agent for Shelter Insurance Companies. Gus was a friend of Bill W and a Manresa retreatant for many years. He had a passion for his family, music, fishing, and making people laugh. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife, Genevieve “Genie” Robert Landry; three children, Brent Landry (Kristen), Pierre Landry (Holly), and Jeanne Landry Wright (Chad); nine grandchildren, Jacques Landry(Samantha), Joseph Landry, Chase Wright, Elaine Landry, Allie Wright, Garrison Landry, Maggie Landry, Amy Wright, and John David Landry; two great grandchildren, Chandler Landry and Lila Landry; two brothers, Emile “Sonny” Landry (Lois) and Larry Landry (Dorlane). He is preceded in death by his two children, Amy Landry and Duane Landry; one grandson, Matthew Landry; parents, Emile Jr. and Laure Landry, and one brother, Albert “Ghost” Landry. Visitation will be on March 11, 2021 from 8:30am until 11:30am at Ourso Funeral Home in Donaldsonville with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 12pm at Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Church. A private interment will be held at a later date at Ascension Mausoleum.

I met Gus over 60 years ago when he worked with my Dad at the John Deere dealership. Spent some time with Him and his "Young Bride" when their son Duane was on my Little League baseball team. I've always respected Gus Landry. He was a good man.
