Cyril was a man of deep faith and quiet strength, known for his generosity, craftsmanship, and devotion to both family and community. A faithful member of St. Frances Church, he served for many years as an usher and eagerly volunteered his time at church fairs, always ready with a helping hand and a warm smile.A master carpenter by trade, Cyril spent his life building and repairing homes and furniture with remarkable skill and care. If it could be built or fixed, Cyril could do it — and do it right. Before retiring, he worked for many years at Ascension Catholic School, overseeing maintenance for three campuses. No task was ever too big or too small; his top priority was always the safety and well-being of the children.
Cyril also had a gift for growing things. His garden was a labor of love — his tomato vines often stood taller than he did and his mirliton vines were his prized possession. Cyril took great joy in sharing the fruits of his labor with the friends and family he cherished. An avid outdoorsman, he loved fishing and often treated his loved ones to fresh catfish, crawfish, or shrimp from his latest catch.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 61 years, Maxine Denoux Bourgoyne; his five children: Troy H. Bourgoyne, Brett P. Bourgoyne and wife Sherrie Bourgoyne, Kim Bourgoyne Colligan and husband Ted Colligan, Robert P. Bourgoyne, Jon Mark Bourgoyne and husband Jean Gros-Bourgoyne; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law Faye and Simone Bourgoyne; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Telesphore and Alice Bourgoyne; his eight brothers: Telesphore, Nathan, Matthew, Bernard, Harvey, Elliot, Arnold, and Gordon; two sisters: Murral and Ursula; and his beloved daughter-in-law, Pamela.
Cyril loved nothing more than sitting with friends and family, sharing stories — especially those from his time in the military — always ending with a twinkle in his eye and his favorite phrase: “Meanwhile, back at the ranch…” He will be deeply missed, forever remembered, and always cherished in the hearts of those who were lucky enough to know and love him.
A visitation will be held on Monday, June 30, 2025 from 9:30 am until the Mass of Christian Burial for 11:00 am at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. Burial to follow in the church cemetery. Father Burns will officiate.
