December 15, 1945 – March 28, 2014. David Joseph Templet, “Big Dave”, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend passed away at his home on Friday, March 28, 2014. He will be dearly missed by family and friends. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 31, 2014 at 5:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. at Ourso Funeral Home in Donaldsonville. He was survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Janice Lynn Moses; two daughters and sons-in-law, Cindy and Ed Landry, and Jenny and Kevin Bourgeois; two sons and daughters-in-law, Tony and Kristie Templet, and Marty and Kaye Templet; eight loving grandchildren, Collin and Abigail Landry, Sophie Bourgeois, Cooper, Grace and Olivia Templet, Jane and Sam Templet; three sisters and two brothers-in-law Loretta Templet, Miriam and Delwin LaCroix, Brenda and Lynn Blanchard; fifteen nieces and nephews; and will be sadly missed by his beloved companion Tootsie. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Winnie Templet; mother and father-in-law Phyllis and Merrill Carlson; nieces, Mandy Acosta and Rhonda LeDuc; and nephew Brett Legette; brother-in-law, David Leggette.
He retired from Turner Industries with 35 years of service as a Superintendent. “Big Dave” was a caring man that loved life, people, but most of all, he loved his family and good times at his camp in Cocodrie. He was an avid freshwater and saltwater fisherman. He will always be remembered in his boat, with his fishing rod in hand, sun visor on and wide smile on his face!!! He loved working with cypress in his shed and was always proud to show off his “famous” picture frames and various cypress projects. He was a 32nd Degree Mastor Mason who belonged to Ascension Lodge No. 251 and Terrebone Fellowship Lodge 481. Honoring “Big Dave” as honorary pallbearers, Roland LeBlanc, Kevin Becnel, Dell Scioneaux, Sandy Gaudet, Jerry Jacobs, John Leonard, Lynn Blanchard and Delwin LaCroix. The family extends their deepest thanks and gratitude to the physicians and staff at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Promise Hospital, Audubon Home Health, Louisiana Wound Care Specialists, and Hematology Oncology Clinic, especially Dr.Vincent Cataldo for their medical care.
