A native of White Castle and resident of Geismar, LA, Debra Sue Bourgeois Gomez passed away at Carpenter House on Thursday, May 10, 2018 at 7:30 a.m. after a courageous battle with pulmonary disease. She was a retired school teacher of 35 years in Iberville and Ascension Parishes. However, her true life’s occupation was wife, mother and grandmother to the loves of her life - her husband, children and grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Ramon Anthony Gomez, one son, Evan Phillip Gomez (Kristen Kiff) , one daughter, Erin Claire Gomez and two grandchildren, Penelope and Ronin Gomez. She is also survived by her siblings, Elmer O. Bourgeois, Jr. and Julie Bourgeois; brothers-in-law, James “Jimmy” Achee, Jr. Gary Gomez (Suzanne), Mark Gomez (Michelle) and sisters-in-law, Kerry Anastasio Chelette, Sharon Grezzafi Bourgeois and Charlene Gomez Ourso. Aunt, Elizabeth Gerace Adams. Numerous nieces and nephews: Janet Achee Broussard (Terry), Jill Achee (Janie Sarradet), James Achee, III (Shannon), Jeff Achee (Lucy), Elmer “Butch” Bourgeois III (Darren), Chad Bourgeois, Christen Bourgeois Singer (Kevin), Nori Gomez Faucheux (Chad), Fred Gomez (Mandy), and David Gomez. Numerous great nieces and nephews: Courtland Bourgeois (Lexi), Katie Bourgeois, Lauren Broussard, Michael Broussard, Haleigh Achee, Allyson Achee, Raegan Achee (Kayla), Cooper Achee, Lydia Bourgeois, Cora Singer and Dylan Rene Menard, Luke and Logan Faucheux, Chance and Cohen Gomez.
Her godchildren: Jill Achee, Missy Landry and Butch Bourgeois.
Preceeded in death by her mother and father, Elmer O. and Mercedes Adams Bourgeois, siblings Barbara “Bobbie” Bourgeois Achee, John Felix Bourgeois. Father-in-law Frederick Gomez and mother-in-law Earline Medine Gomez. Uncle Russell Adams, who generously helped rear her and her siblings.

Services on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Smokebend, LA. Visitation from 9:00-11:00 a.m. followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. and interment in the church cemetery.
