Doris Brou Blanchard

A resident of Belle Rose, Doris passed away at home surrounded by her family on Thursday, July 14, 2016 at the age of 85. She was born in McCall, LA and graduated from Catholic High School, Donaldsonville, LA. She was a 1950 graduate of Hotel Dieu School of Nursing, later working as a Registered Nurse at Prevost Memorial Hospital. Doris was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother whose love for her family was an inspiration to us all.

Doris is survived by her daughters, Donna Blanchard Landry and husband David, Julie Blanchard Acosta, and Lauren Blanchard Johnson; son, Marvin Clay Blanchard and wife Lisa; sister, Joyce Brou Danos; brother, Paul C. Brou; 13 grandchildren, Jessica Landy Cassard, Travis Landry, Aimee Blanchard Grubbs, Laurie Blanchard Cohen, Rebecca Blanchard Jordan, Joseph Acosta, Sarah Acosta, Catherine Acosta, Michael Johnson Jr., Jason Johnson, Christina Johnson Chouest, Jennifer Blanchard Alleman, and Clay Blanchard; and 20 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond F. Blanchard; daughter, Connie Blanchard Stropolo; parents, Clement and Delia Brou; sister, Thelma Brou Michel; and brothers, Marvin Brou and Rev. Hubert J. Brou.

Visiting will be at St. Jules Catholic Church, Belle Rose on Monday, July 18, 2016 from 9 am until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am, Rev. Matthew Graham, officiating. Entombment to follow in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers will be David Landry, Travis Landry, Joseph Acosta, Michael Johnson, Jason Johnson and Clay Blanchard.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to her caregivers: Loretta Lejeune, Marie Latino, Debra Tusa, and Lethia Heim.
