

Elaine Bourg Covington, 78, a native of Donaldsonville, a retired teacher and a loving wife, mother and grandmother, passed away Tuesday, April 12, 2011. She enjoyed cooking for family and friends, working in her yard, spending time with her children and grandchildren, and watching LSU football. She was dearly loved for her caring nature and will be sadly missed. She is survived by her husband, James Covington Sr.; two daughters, Jami and her husband, David Chadwick, of Thibodaux and Jennifer and her husband, David Masterson, of Zachary; two sons, James and his wife, Amy Covington, of The Woodlands, Texas, and Jon and his wife, Wendy Covington, of Treasure Island, Fla.; nine grandchildren, Anna and Amelie Chadwick, Collin, Emma and Ella Covington, Carson Covington and Christopher, Jack and Camille Masterson; and two brothers, Nicky and Michael Bourg. She was preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Georgiana Bourg; sister, Jacqueline Hymel; and two brothers, Robert and Claude Jr. “Toby.” The family would like to express its gratitude to Mitzi Redditt, Betty Causey and the caring staff of Grace Health and Rehab Center. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society. Visitation will be held at Ourso Funeral Home in Donaldsonville on Saturday, April 16, from 8 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. A memorial service will follow at Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Church, Donaldsonville, at 10 a.m. Rev. Phil Spano, celebrant. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
